First Polaroid Manipulation

Well here's my first shot at Polaroid manipulation. I shot this in bright sunlight in the morning and then kept the polaroid fairly warm so that it brought out the reds. I might have to try the same thing but keeping the film cooler next time.

Well I've finally gotten around to getting some of these vineyard images up from my trip to Cali a few weeks ago. Bit of color work on this one but I wanted to give the stones a little more umph. This is actually the old original wine press at the Langtry Estate Vineyards in Napa, who by the way we're incredible accommodating. I'd recommend anyone touring around Napa to definitely give them a visit, Thanks Scotty! also Thanks to Cynthia for buying the first print of this one =)

I've had this one for awhile, but am just now getting some new work up. I believe this was a 3 or 4 minute exposure if I remember correctly. I had just gotten my new wireless release that week.

Here's another shot, well 3, from the failed Meteor watching session. It's amazing just how much light comes from the city that's about 20 miles away behind those mountains. The 3 shots were stitched together in photoshop using the blend tool and eraser.

Meteor Fail

Well we went out to try and see the meteor shower last night. With tripod, camera and a bottle of champagne we waited.. and waited.. and.. Not a single meteor the entire time, I know for sure that we were looking northeast, it should have been dark enough, but not a single one in sight. Maybe it was just too early, apparently it was suposed to peak at midnight but we'd gone early because the full moon was going to rise at 11:00. I did however manage to get a few nighttime pictures. It's been a good while since I've done anything like this. There is something very therapeutic about calmly waiting for those 2 clicks of the shutter.

Something a little different today. Last week my dad set before me a pretty daunting task. The woman in the photo is my 4 or so great Cousin. Apparently she has facial cancer which terrible disfigured her. After about 5 revisions I came up with the image on the left. Did a little interior work for a friend whose opened a new restaurant here in Little Rock. It's almost like a German Beer House and it's called The Pantry. Bunch of beer on tap and they even make their own bratwurst! Best thing is its 5 minutes from where I live and on my home from work. I'll definitely be stopping by. Their website is live. Reap The Day: I just couldn't resist lol, although i guess technically it should be threshing... Thresh the day just doesn't sound right. I sat in my car for a few minutes this morning just staring over at this farm equipment half way across the field before I actually decided to get off my @ss and get a picture of them. Ended up late for week =( but it was definitely worth it.

Candid shot I got of my 96 year old grandfather right before a meal. There's always something so peaceful and calming about staying with him; no cell phones, no internet, no computer... Shot this using my 14-24mm wide angle using only the back lighting coming in from the window and the light from the chandelier.

Well looks like Arkansas will be having a lottery at some point in the near future. Great job to all the people that helped make it happen. I'm hoping this will give us the ability to have proper casinos as well. I've heard stories about how Hot Springs, the town just to the southwest of Little Rock, would have been bigger than Las Vegas if gambling hadn't been shut down back many years ago.

This is a website I designed when this issue was up on the ballet last year, maybe it can finally get used!

Chasing the sunset, or at least trying to. In an attempt to hurry back up the trail in an attempt to find a good spot for the sunset I kind of realized maybe it was me that was being chased. The trail wasn't too long but it made for a bit of a dramatic backdrop when I snapped this one with the evening coming on. The bear snuffling somewhere off in the distance certainly helped to.

I was on my way to work the other day passing over the Arkansas river bridge staring out at the fog and the sunrise and I couldn't help but think about all the things going on that none of us ever take notice of. With our busy lives and hectic schedules we pass right by almost everything, especially if it has nothing to do with us or doesn't affect us. We should all try and be a little more mindful of whats going on around us and the people around us. With the credit crisis and all the home foreclosures we could end up living in one of those places we pass by everyday pretty easily.

I had the camera on a tripod for this one as the sun was starting to set and I usually shoot at pretty low ISO. These girls had come up from behind without really noticing me but when they did squeals and running ensued. Love those happy accidents.

Shot using an old Large format camera on 4x5 film, That was in the compressor room of an old machine shop. Maybe 4 feet of clearance there, was quite a challenge.
